I ran across a new fallacy,
the Reverse Mussolini Fallacy:
The Mussolini Fallacy is believing that, because Mussolini made the
trains run on time (if he did), that excuses his other acts. The Reverse
Mussolini Fallacy is believing that, because Mussolini made the trains
run on time, making the trains run on time is bad.
Political debate often uses both the Mussolini Fallacy and the Reverse Mussolini Fallacy. Hugh Nibley discussed these issues in "The Unsolved Loyalty Problem." It is worth another look.
